The water was warm. She preferred it piping hot, but Leah had the first shower. She closed her eyes, a practice she knew better than, but she never followed her own rules.
The white triangular teeth, the blood oh-so, delicately sliding and off the head landed on her shoulder. She opened her eyes. She leaned into the wall for support. It would take a minute or two for her to reach a state of calm.
She turned to face the shower head and closed her eyes.
White head, open mouth. Lifeless eyes. Endless rows of teeth. The blood. Anger. Hungry. Mindless. Blood dripping from those teeth. Moving closer.
She opened her eyes and the curtains to get out. She slipped on the tile and cursed her silliness.
She’s an adult now. She be able to bathe in peace. She half climbed, half crawled back to the shower. She used the wall as leverage to pull herself back up.
She turned to face the shower head and turned off the water. She reached blindly for a towel and wrapped it around herself.
Carefully, she exited the shower, She drew in breath and cautiously approached the cloudy mirror. She wiped it away was met with a human face.
She let a breath and smiled.
It was her face, as usual.
She turned to the door. She reached for the light and turned it off and stepped out into the hall.
She did not look back. Tomorrow it would start again
